The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Displeasure About Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
