Medical Expert Cautions
“People are administering substances they cannot confirm. Although the science behind this drug is valid, these digital versions may not contain what they claim,” said a pharmacy expert, the head of pharmacy at a pharmacy service.
Dr Crystal Wyllie of an online medical service connected the increase in interest to recent price rises for authorized weight-loss drugs such as Mounjaro. “With costs rising, individuals are using social media. But counterfeit treatments are highly dangerous. You can’t be certain what’s inside or whether the conditions they were made in was clean,” she explained.
Her team has already encountered individuals injured by self-injection from unverified sources. “We recognize the disappointment, but buying from Telegram or communication platforms is taking chances with your well-being,” stated Wyllie. “These substances could be contaminated or incorrectly dosed.”
Producer Position
A spokesperson from Eli Lilly stated retatrutide was in third stage research studies and had not been reviewed or authorized by any regulatory agency globally. “Therefore at this point no one can sell [it] for human use,” they explained, noting that any product “falsely representing itself as a Lilly investigational substance not yet authorized … may expose patients to potentially significant medical dangers”.
