19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of 2023.
Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.
The player's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.
Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five points to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.
Moutet rescued four early-game opportunities in a close final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
