Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior official stated the attack rendered him without words and had to be solved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
